1 part catnip leaves/flowers (Nepeta cataria)
1 part rose petals (Rosa spp.)
1 part spearmint leaves (Mentha spicata)
1 part chamomile flowers (Matricaria recutita or Chamaemelum nobile)
A part can be any measurement you like. I often simply use handfuls but you can use tablespoons or measuring cups. Just remember with this recipe you'll end up with 4 times the amount of whatever measurement you use. Measure the herbs into a large mixing bowl and stir or gently hand toss them until they are well mixed. Store in a closed glass jar out of light and away from heat. To make a cup of tea use about 2 teaspoons of the tea blend per cup of boiling water, cover and steep 7-10 minutes. I generally serve it hot or warm with a dab of honey.
I personally consider this tea safe in moderate amounts for children and pregnant and nursing mothers but if you have any concerns, please consult with your health care professional.
